The Democratic Liberation Forces of Rwanda (FDLR) are closely following the evolution of the process of balkanisation of the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by Rwanda under
the guise of the M23 and the multifaceted support of certain countries.
They offer their condolences to the bereaved families of the soldiers of MONUSCO, SADC,
Humanitarians and FARDC, and strongly protest against the carnage that is being committed in North
and South Kivu under the complacent eye of the International Community.
The FDLR support the process aimed at establishing lasting peace in the African Great Lakes region
and at the same time, it welcomes the efforts made by the Kinshasa Government in all steps to safeguard national integrity and sovereignty.
The FDLR regret, however, the measures and decisions taken against them, such as those taken by the joint SADC and EAC summit in Dar es Salaam on February 8, 2025, at the request of Kigali, aimed at neutralising them, while ignoring their main mission of protecting Rwandan refugees abandoned to
their sad fate by the International Community for thirty years now.
The FDLR movement was therefore born in this context, it has no link with the genocidal aims that Kigali wrongly attributes to them to hide its true intentions.
The FDLR have repeatedly warned of the bellicose and expansionist ambitions of the Kigali regime. The current escalation is a direct consequence of inaction in the face of these warnings.
The FDLR call on the international community to reconsider its position on the Kigali regime and to put pressure on President Paul Kagame who continues to destabilise the sub-region.
In conclusion, the FDLR are convinced that in order to definitively resolve the Great Lakes crisis, the
countries of the region should dialogue with their opponents. One wonders why Rwanda is demanding negotiations on the Congolese side and does not want to hear talks with its opponents.
In the absence of an inclusive inter-Rwandan dialogue, the FDLR reaffirm that they will spare no effort to protect themselves and defend the rights of Rwandan refugees.
